THE VIOLENCE OF ETHICS IN DIRECT COMMUNICATION

         People has special thing in this life, called mind (the ability of thinking). By this ability, people realize about their own self, who they are, and what they will do. People are able to think if it is good to be done or not. And the good things have arranged in this life named ethics.

As we know that ethics is the main branch of philosophy that studies the value of moral in daily life. The behavior of people will be affected by ethics that they’re learned. That’s why ethics becomes the important thing to be known by all people.

      This paper will tell the reader a little thing about the violence of ethics and we will focus on communication point of view. Remembering that communication is the activity that people always do wherever and whenever they are, we must certainly know about the ethics that we have to be followed to make a good interaction with the others.

         Communication as the important thing to full their need and the way to reach success also has an ethics that arrange the way to be good. But, there is many things that make the ethics were broken. They are:

1.      People says every thing with everyone without think about the place when they’re talking, the situation when talk, and the age of their friend. So they forget to choose the correct sentence to show the politeness. This is the kind of violence because factually, we have to care about the things that are mentioned above to create a good interaction and follow the ethics rules.

2.      People do not show their fairness when they are in the middle of one problems. It also breaks the ethics of communication that is said by Karl Wallace Johannesen (1996).  He said that the communicator has to grow up their fairness when choosing the fact or opinion openly. Communication cannot be defined on one side only because he has to able to evaluate all of the side.

3.      People just want to be heard without hearing the others. This thing is one of breaking the ethics that is also said by Karl Wallace Johannesen (1996).  Johannesen said that the communicator also has to be hearer to respect the other expression and the ideas.          

4.      People do not say the truth when they are talking. It breaks the communication ethics that is said by Rakhmat (1993). He said that the communicator has to honest when saying everything. He also said that it is from Al-Qur’an that people has to have the Qaulan Sadidan principle.

5.     People talk about something that is not feasible to be talked. This breaks the ethics too because something that is not need to be the public consumption should not be discussed.

           These are some violence of ethics in direct communication that breaks the ethics itself. The point is how people keep their value of moral to keep the ethics’ values. Moreover the direct communication ethics has to defend to show that we are people with the best behavior.
